Yo Pinoch is a move away from Mighty Good Productions traditional Pantomimes, and Malcolm Harslett, the Creator and Director has managed to put together a Hip Hop musical adventure, that delivers a contemporary story, with a strong message.
Pinoch and his Sister are Immigrants who are poorly treated by their school class mates. After a heated disagreement at school, they run away and get lost in the back streets of their new City. Lurking in the shadows are a group of other “lost” kids, who are controlled by the not so trustworthy Mrs. Smart. While out on a “job” Pinoch is caught by the Police, and once again finds himself trapped and disillusioned by society.
Malcolm Harslett explains the production approaches some of the tougher issues facing kids, both as Immigrants and those who believe they have inherited ownership on our Country. It also demonstrates how easy it is for kids to lose sense of right from wrong when conned by those older and more sinister into inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour. Whilst there are no signs of drug use in the performance, the message is made clear through the strong characters and musical numbers.
The show is conceived, written and directed by Malcolm Harslett, with great Hip Hop music by DLong and choreographed by Lauren P. With award winning Hip Hop dancers MG Slick and featuring Kyle Hall as Pinoch.
